Mundo and Minera Centinela connect 250 homes with fiber optics

Bnamericas

Copper miner Minera Centinela, Mundo Telecomunicaciones and Chile’s Sierra Gorda municipality, among others, implemented a project to connect 250 households with fiber services, enabling speeds of up to 500Mbps.

Mundo will also offer television and fixed telephony services.

The project, part of Centinela’s EnRed connectivity program, also involved connections at seven municipal institutions, including police and fire stations and a school.

In February, Fundación País Digital announced that 3,000 Sierra Gorda and Baquedano residents gained free satellite internet access via Starlink connections as part of a BHP program.
