The following is a machine translation of a Celec release

The National Government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Electric Corporation of Ecuador – CELEC EP, began the process for the acquisition, installation, commissioning and start-up of terrestrial thermoelectric generators next to the San Juan de Manta substation, located in Manta (Manabí), with a capacity of 100 MW.

Yesterday, CELEC EP published the process on the Public Procurement Service – SERCOP portal, which begins with the reception of proposals for the acquisition of these new facilities that will operate with HFO4 and HFO6 fuel, which is of national production.

According to the publication, interested companies have until Tuesday, September 24 to submit their proposals. The Technical Commission will immediately conduct an analysis of the deadline, price and adherence to the technical criteria established in the terms of reference (TOR) and will select the most suitable proposal for the country.

This will be followed by the receipt of forms by the selected supplier, the issuance of internal documents for the award and the award will be made to the proposal that best suits the country.

The contracting process will be carried out through an emergency process. To this end, the General Management of CELEC EP declared this Strategic Public Company in a state of emergency and authorized the necessary contracts to be made.

The acquisition of these new generation units for the San Juan de Manta substation, as well as the rental of new floating generation for up to 250 MW and other projects that are in the preparatory phase, are part of the actions being developed by the Government of President Daniel Noboa to confront the energy crisis.

These are decisions that previous governments did not take in a timely manner to manage the sovereignty of the electric sector. The lack of investments in new generation condemned Ecuadorians to depend on the climate to have an efficient and safe service. The National Government acts with a sense of responsibility, manages and plans concrete actions to strengthen the country's energy security.
