The national president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry ( CMIC ), Luis Méndez Jaled, called on the organized construction sector of the country in this business Chamber, to support the Infrastructure Plan recently announced by the president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum.

“This plan includes concrete actions regarding ports, airports, highways, rural roads, railways and multimodal terminals and of special relevance will be developing the infrastructure that allows us to detonate the 22 poles of regional development that Dr. Sheinbaum is proposing,” He stated in a message he delivered at the Protest Ceremony of the 2024-2026 Steering Committee of the CMIC Michoacán Delegation.

In the presence of the Governor of the State, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla ; the Municipal President of Morelia, Alfonso Martínez Alcázar; the Rector of the State University, Yarabí Ávila González; federal officials and representatives of various business associations and professional associations, the national leader of the builders organized in the CMIC recognized the role of the Michoacan builders and the country.

“Michoacan builders contribute their specialized knowledge, professional experience and investments to generate income opportunities for families, prosperity for the region and development for the state.

You turn ideas into companies; projects in works; and dreams into realities. For all this, they represent a true engine of regional, state and national development.”

Méndez Jaled recognized the work of Antonio Tinoco, for the successful management carried out at the head of the CMIC Delegation in Michoacán and expressed his best wishes to the incoming president, Alejandro Vargas.

He recognized the work of the state government headed by Ramírez Bedolla. “It is very encouraging that, in a scenario of structural financial restriction, the State Government gives the highest priority to strengthening the rule of law, the expansion, modernization and maintenance of infrastructure and economic development,” he said.

The national president of the CMIC highlighted the contributions that the construction sector makes to the development of the country.

“As the Chamber that heads the value chain of the construction industry, which generates 4.7 million jobs and contributes 7% of the national GDP, we will firmly support everything that means development for Mexico and quality of life for the population” .

He recognized that, in the years to come, our country will have attractive opportunities, but will also face serious challenges. To overcome these challenges, moving forward, the builders of the CMIC are determined to be allies of the Government of our elected president, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum.

“We share your vision to build a Mexico of shared prosperity in which infrastructure plays a crucial role. Under that logic, the name of the game is investing to share. Cooperate to prosper.”

He highlighted that the relocation of companies or nearshoring "opens the door to greater attraction of foreign direct investment, but requires sufficient, timely supply and competitive prices of clean energy, natural gas, water and lower logistics costs."

Additionally, we will have to address social and environmental challenges, aggravated by the effects of climate change, he noted.

He therefore called for work on 5 priority axes: join efforts to increase public investment in infrastructure; promote transparent public-private co-investment schemes; give highest priority to water infrastructure and sustainable water management; promote social housing and urban works and services that improve the quality of life in cities and support the Infrastructure Plan that the president-elect has announced.
