New Fortress Energy sales volume set to jump 80% on LatAm additions
Sales volume for New Fortress Energy (NFE) is expected to hit 3.6Mg/d (million gallons a day) with the startup of LNG terminals in Mexico and Nicaragua, and the incorporation of the Sergipe terminal in Brazil.
CEO Wes Edens provided the outlook during NFE’s first quarter results presentation where he highlighted normalized sales volume of around 2Mg/d for 1Q21.
New York-based NFE already operates terminals in Jamaica and Puerto Rico.
The 1.8Mg/d La Paz terminal in Mexico and the 2.4Mg/d Puerto Sandino terminal in Nicaragua are scheduled to come online in the next 60 days, while Sergipe (2.4Mg/d) is in operation and was part of NFE’s acquisition of Hygo Energy Transition that closed in April.
The addition of Brazilian terminals Barcarena, Suape and Santa Catarina in 2022 would help push sales volume to 16.2Mg/d, said Edens.
He also highlighted advancement of NFE’s modular liquefaction facility project – dubbed Fast LNG – with a first facility due online by end-2022.
Regarding NFE’s venture into cleaner fuels, Kenneth Nicholson, who is leading the initiative, said a JV will be established with Fortress Transportation and Infrastructure which operates a multi-modal crude oil and refined products logistics terminal in Texas.
Nicholson said that final investment decisions for renewable diesel and hydrogen projects are expected in 90-120 days, and that each project will cost US$200-300mn.
The plan is for Zero Parks, as the JV will be known, to be separated as a stand-alone public company, Nicholson added.
