New Girardot hwy. deadline

The process to find a concessionaire to operate Colombia's Bogota-Girardot highway has been suspended and will reopen on January 27, Deryn Reyes, a spokesperson at national concessions institute INC, told BNamericas. Reyes said the process was suspended at the request of the interested bidders as the original early January deadline did not enable them to put together all the required financing and transaction details. Bidding will now close February 10. The winner will receive a 14-year concession to build and maintain a 126km-long highway linking capital Bogota with Cundimarca department capital Girardot, including a bicycle path and a 4.3km traffic tunnel. The project's 450bn peso (US$160mn) estimated capex will be recouped via tolls. Concession bidding rules originally went on sale in October 2003.
