NEW REPORT - What Latin America is doing to fend off potential global recession

The US and Chinese economies are not the only ones hurting from their intensifying trade war. The global economy will record its weakest expansion in a decade this year, with world trade expanding at its lowest rate in a decade, and the possibility of a global recession in 2020 is a clear and present danger, the United Nations has warned. Latin American countries are adjusting to a state of play that includes disrupted trade flows, lower demand for commodities from main consumer China along with weaker prices, and international investors' aversion to risk amid high levels of uncertainty.

From Brazil's proposed tax reform to Peru's de-dollarization efforts, the region's main markets are taking steps to cushion the external shocks. 

This report does not cover Argentina, as the country is in the midst of an election process that could very well bring to power the Peronist ticket of Alberto Fernández- Cristina Fernández Kirchner, which has failed to provide even a hint of its potential economic policy.
