New Trinidad upstream contracts envision 25 exploration wells
Trinidad and Tobago’s latest upstream hydrocarbon contract licensees have pledged to drill at least 25 exploration wells.
That is according to energy minister Stuart Young, who was speaking during the signing of five contracts for the onshore and nearshore round which opened in 2022 and drew 16 offers from eight companies for eight of 11 blocks.
The new licensees and their blocks are A&V Oil and Gas and Heritage Petroleum (St Mary’s block), Oilbelt Services and Heritage (Buenos Ayres), NABI Construction and Heritage (Aripero) and Primera Oil and Gas and NGC E&P Investment (Charuma, Cipero).
The minimum exploration work programs for the blocks to be carried out over six years include the reprocessing of 2D and 3D seismic.
Talks continue with a decision expected soon for the three other blocks that drew proposals: Tulsa, Guayaguayare and South-West Peninsula.
