
Nicaragua unveils potable water, sanitation goals

Nicaraguan state water and sewage utility Enacal will aim to increase potable water coverage to 96% by 2020.
The utility will complete 24 projects in different cities between 2018 and 2020, vice president and first lady Rosario Murillo said during her daily news roundup Wednesday.
The cities where works will be undertaken include Santo Tomás, Acoyapa, Bilwi, Bluefields, Cárdenas, Tipitapa, Corinto, Nandaime, Catarina, Niquinohomo, San Juan de Oriente, Altagracia, Moyogalpa, Rivas, Tola, San José de Cusmapa, Las Sabanas, Quilalí, Wiwilí de Jinotega, Camoapa, Ciudad Rama, La Esperanza and Nueva Guinea.
In terms of sanitation, authorities are aiming at increasing sewerage coverage to 65% in 2020 by building sewage systems in 25 additional cities.
