Nokia wins trunking contract with Telcom

Finland's telecoms vendor Nokia has won a contract to supply its Tetra digital trunking technology to Brazilian mobile radio operator Telcom Telecomunicaçoes, Nokia said in a statement. Nokia's system will cover the three main Brazilian cities of Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Telcom is expanding its current offering with digital systems to meet its customers' demands for digital services, to offer higher quality and new features that are not possible with analogue technology. Telcom's customers include public service agencies, municipalities, traffic control, transportation services, public utilities, enterprises, oil and gas companies, and seaport authorities.
