Nortel wins US$17mn Voip contract with C&W

The Cayman Islands incumbent full service provider Cable & Wireless has awarded Canada's Nortel Networks (NYSE: NT) a two-year contract worth approximately US$17mn to provide a voice over IP (Voip) network, Nortel said in a statement. The network will converge existing voice, data and Internet services to help increase efficiency, reduce costs and position Cable & Wireless Cayman Islands to provide advanced multimedia services like video calling. Nortel Networks will deploy products from its Succession voice over IP and Multimedia Communications portfolios, as well as providing professional services.
