Northern Peru targeted for new wind power project

Bnamericas

Peru’s energy and mines ministry granted a temporary concession for a wind power project in the northern region of Piura.

Bow Power Perú is behind the planned 210MW Boreas plant in the districts of Lobitos and Pariñas, Talara province.

The company, part of Cobra Perú, requested the concession in June and now has 24 months to carry out feasibility studies.

Northern Peru is home to wind plants Cupisnique (80MW), Talara (30MW), Duna (18.4MW) and Huambos (18.4MW), four of the country’s eight wind farms in operation.

Bow Power’s development pipeline includes the 54MW Torocco wind farm which would span the regions of Ica and Arequipa.

In recent weeks, participative workshops were held to present the final results of the semi-detailed environmental impact study for Torocco.
