Nuevo León unveils US$390mn infra investments

The government of Mexico's Nuevo León state will invest 7.5bn pesos (US$393mn) this year to carry out a number of public works across different sectors.
Construction of general hospitals in the cities of Montemorelos and Sabinas Hidalgo will be completed, works on the third line of capital Monterrey's metro system continued and the La Libertad dam will be built, the state government said in a release.
Around 550mn pesos of the funds will be used to provide maintenance to the state's highway network, while 400mn will help upgrade school infrastructure.
Other projects include the 600mn-peso initiative to expand the Apodaca prison facility and building a 100mn-peso museum.
The majority of the investments will come from federal funds.
The investment amount represents an increase of 20% from last year, according to the authorities.
