Nutanix sees demand rising for LatAm multi-cloud, hyperscale datacenter partnerships

Hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) vendor Nutanix sees demand increasing for solutions in partnership with multi-cloud, hyperscale datacenter providers in Latin America.

Last year, the US group partnered with Brazilian firm Soluti’s Everest Digital subsidiary for the creation of Everest Cloud, considered the first Tier 3 certified managed service provider datacenter in Brazil’s mid-west.

"The project is going full steam ahead; it is the first in the hyperscale model," Leonel Oliveira, country manager of Nutanix in Brazil, told BNamericas during an online event on May 29.

"The acceptance of this offering was so good that they [Everest] expanded it regionally, positioning themselves with several PoPs [points of presence], effectively setting up a cloud for the region," he said.

Located in Goiás state capital Goiânia, Everest Cloud’s site received initial capex of 80mn reais (US$15mn). The datacenter has just completed one year of operations.

The site relies on hybrid cloud infrastructure from Nutanix, while also being a Red Hat certified cloud and service provider (CCSP) facility. Everest provides high-performance links in the datacenter for interconnection with the main public clouds on the market.

In an interview with BNamericas in January, Everest CTO Rômulo Rocha said that the company would also use Ascenty datacenters, with whom Everest also has a partnership.

Ascenty has 34 datacenters in operation or under development in Latin America, including projects in Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Colombia.

For the traditional colocation service, Everest Digital has a partnership with Elea Digital

Through Elea's datacenter structures, Everest is present in five Brazilian states, totaling eight datacenters hosting customers' mission-critical equipment.

During the event, Nutanix presented results from a survey commissioned from Vanson Bourne on enterprise cloud adoption. The findings were broken down for the Brazilian market.

According to the survey, the IT priorities for Brazilian executives are, in order: data security and protection against ransomware, implementation of hybrid IT, and implementation of AI strategies.

Among the respondents in Brazil, 83% plan to invest this year in IT modernization to support AI.

Around 32% of the Brazilian corporations surveyed claim to have implemented a hybrid or multi-cloud hybrid IT environment.

Nutanix reports over 25,800 customers worldwide.

This week, the company posted US$525mn in revenues for its third fiscal quarter, which ended April 30. That was a 17% year-on-year increase, fueled by annual recurring revenues (ARR) of US$1.82bn, up 24%. The firm's net loss reached US$15.6mn in the quarter, down from US$70.9mn in the same period of last year.

Nutanix's guidance for the full fiscal year is approximately US$2.14bn in revenues.
