Bnamericas
Jamaica's National Works Agency (NWA) expects to launch a J$100mn (US$1.2mn) island-wide drain cleaning initiative this year under its annual mitigation program, according to NWA communications manager Stephen Shaw. Shaw said NWA will begin working with members of parliament to identify some of the locations to carry out work, government news agency JIS reported. The spokesperson also issued a warning against the burning of garbage at the entry to storm drains and sewerage systems, noting that the practices not only damages roads but also puts lives at risk.
