Bnamericas
Jamaica's National Water Commission ( NWC) has begun a tender for a raw water treatment and groundwater recharge project in capital Kingston, IDB said in a press release. Project financing is provided through part of the proceeds of an IDB loan funding NWC's Kingston metropolitan area water improvement program. The project aims to treat raw water and use it to artificially recharge groundwater in the parish of St. Catherine, IDB said. Major works include the construction of a 36.3Ml/d capacity raw water treatment facility, a raw water intake structure, 1.1km of 800mm diameter raw water pipeline, 1km of 800mm diameter treated water pipeline and inlet structures to two deep wells and three sinkholes. Interested firms must have an annual average construction turnover equivalent to US$4.5mn and have successfully executed at least one project of comparable nature and complexity within the last five years, IDB said. Submissions will be publically opened on January 29, 2013. For the full statement and further application details, go to this link
