Odata confirms start of operations at 2nd Mexican datacenter

A second Mexican datacenter of Brazil’s Odata, controlled by US group Aligned Data Centers, is up and running.

The QR02 campus is in Guanajuato state and projected to have 30MW in capacity when fully complete. It went live in a first phase with around half that total.

There has not yet been an official announcement by the company, but the datacenter's start of operations during the first quarter was confirmed for BNamericas by an Odata spokesperson.

In an interview in February this year, Odata's CEO Ricardo Alário said QR02 was completed and ready to be commissioned to the client.

With the start of operations of QR02, Odata now only has one site, QR03, still under construction in the country.

QR03 is in El Marqués, 221km from Mexico City and, according to Odata, will be the largest datacenter campus in Mexico with 150MW in capacity.

The first phase of QR03 is due for the first quarter next year.

Odata’s first Mexican datacenter, QR01, went live in 2022 with 8.4MW of installed capacity in its first phase. That site is also undergoing expansion, according to the company.

When completed, the QR01 campus is set to have 32MW in capacity.

Last week, Odata announced it had broken ground on a fifth datacenter in Brazil. The company also has sites in Chile and Colombia.
