Odata starts construction of 4th Mexican datacenter
Aligned Data Centers’ Odata has broken ground on its newest datacenter in Mexico, the QR04 unit.
Located in Querétaro, the facility will be the company’s fourth in the country. At present, Odata has two datacenters in operation in Mexico, QR01 and QR02, and two under construction, QR03 and QR04.
QR03 is in El Marqués, 221km from Mexico City and, according to Odata, will be the largest datacenter campus in the country with 150MW in projected capacity.
The first phase of QR03 is due for the first quarter next year. Odata did not provide a forecast for the start of operations of QR04.
UK group Turner and Townsend was the real estate consultancy behind the site selection for QR04, while Mexican firm Bovis is responsible for overall construction management and general contracting.
Bovis' datacenter portfolio includes BBVA’s tier 4 datacenter in Lago Esmeralda, Mexico state.
Odata's first facility in the country, QR01, went live in 2022 with 8.4MW of installed capacity in its first phase. That site is also undergoing expansion, according to the company.
When completed, the QR01 campus is set to have 32MW in capacity. As BNamericas reported, QR02 started operations in the first quarter this year.
