Bnamericas
The integral sanitation project in Mexico's Veracruz state is being expanded to include six or seven water treatment plants with an estimated required investment of 1.5bn pesos (US$138mn), local newspaper Milenio reported. The proposed treatment plants will be located near the Pánuco river in order to prevent its further contamination, Veracruz state's public works ministry Alberto Berlanga said. Officials expect to have financing plans and perhaps private investment in place by September or October, Berlanga said. The sanitation project's first set of works worth 4mn pesos is set for start-up soon and the second package consisting of 94 works worth some 467mn pesos is moving according to plans, he added.
