Argentina greenlights offshore seismic shoots

Argentina's energy and mining ministry authorized national oil company YPF and Norwegian geophysical firm Spectrum to conduct separate 2D seismic surveys off the country's northern coast.

A resolution published in the official gazette gives YPF permission to gather seismic data within an area of 532,693km2 over a 24-month period.

The Spectrum shoot, meanwhile, will also last 24 months and will be carried out within a 35,015km2 area, according to the terms of a similar resolution.

Both documents highlight the importance of studying the country's offshore hydrocarbons potential.
