Orange, Tricom boost Dominican revenues for Altice

Bnamericas

The Dominican subsidiaries of multinational telco Altice Group achieved a 14.4% year-on-year increase in revenues during 2015.

Operating under its Orange and Tricom brands, the country pulled in almost 695mn euros (US$784mn) last year, nearly 90mn euros more than in 2014, according to the company's full-year earnings report.

The company attracted 7,000 new fiber customers and 42,000 post-paid mobile customers in the country last year - a record for the group since its acquisition of Orange and Tricom in 2013.

In 2015, Altice focused investment on its 3G and 4G networks on the island, resulting in 90% and 44% population coverage respectively. The company also intends to invest a further 6.2bn pesos (US$136mn) in Orange and Tricom this year.

After expanding its fiber network in the Dominican Republic by 182,000 homes passed last year, it now reaches a total of about 655,000 homes, of which 512,000 have access to fiber-to-the-home (FTTH). The company is targeting a further 200,000 homes in 2016.

Altice International's adjusted Ebitda growth was 8.9% year-on-year in 4Q15, which the company attributes to the performance in the Dominican Republic, as well as efficiency savings made by Portugal Telecom.

Globally, the company added 270,000 post-paid mobile customers and 130,000 fiber broadband customers.

The group's total revenue for the year was around 17.5bn euros, which was a 0.1% drop over 2014.

"We remain confident that accelerating investments in both fiber and 4G+ infrastructure, as well as higher value generation through a focus on triple- and quadruple-play bundles enhanced with differentiated content offerings, will continue to deliver superior results," said Altice's CEO Dexter Goei.
