Orygen builds up Peru power project portfolio
Peru’s energy and mines ministry (Minem) granted Orygen Perú a definitive concession for the 143MW Muyu wind project.
The proposed plant would be built in Las Lomas, Caravelí province, in the southern region of Arequipa.
Orygen, formerly known as Enel Generación Perú and now controlled by investment group Actis, recently picked up the definitive concessions for the 94.2MW CERW Wayra Solar project and the associated dispatch infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Minem accepted a force majeure request from Vari Energía for the definitive concession to build the 20MW Anashironi hydro in Junín region.
In its request, the company argued the need to expand capacity of the 138/33/13.8kV Santa Ana substation as part of its definitive concession for the 138kV Kimiri-Campas transmission line.
Information from energy and mining investment regulator Osinergmin shows that Vari requested that construction be considered from this past October, with commercial operation startup penciled in for January 2026.
Work on the hydro had been scheduled to begin in March 2024 with commercial startup expected this past October.
