Panama awards power transmission infra contract

Panama’s state power transmission company Etesa selected Celmec for work to reinforce dispatch in Colón province.

The work entails the installation and startup of civil works for the 230kV Sabanitas-Santa Rita line, the 230kV Santa Rita substation and expansion of the 230kV Sabanitas substation.

Celmec won the 662-day contract with a bid of US$21.7mn. The reference budget was US$23mn.

The other participant was Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios which offered US$22.6mn.

Honduras’ state power company Enee seeks a consultant to carry out bathymetry and topography studies to determine sediment volume at the country’s largest generation plant, the 300MW Francisco Morazán hydro, also known as El Cajón.

IDB is helping finance the contract as part of a loan to overhaul the hydro complex.

One RFP is for software products and services to help schedule and dispatch generation and energy resources, and the other for a CRM and CIS billing solution.
