Panama launches tender to boost solar dispatch capacity

Panama’s state power transmission company Etesa issued a call to supply, install, commission and put into service the civil works for the 230/115/34.5kV Progreso II substation.

The dispatch infrastructure is required due to load growth of the Progreso substation and the large number of solar projects which have expressed interest in connecting to this substation in the coming years, according to Etesa.

The new substation is planned for Barú district in Chiriquí province.

Offers for the US$35.7mn, 948-day contract are due January 29, procurement information shows.

Etesa also has bidding underway to expand the 230/115/34.5kV San Bartolo substation in Veraguas province.

Meanwhile, public services regulator Asep opened public consultation for a proposed modification to the power transmission rates framework.

Details are available in the Documents box in the top right corner.
