Panama opens Central America's first metro line
Panama has inaugurated line 1 of Panama City's metro, the first in Central America, local news outlet ANP reported.
The line, which demanded a US$1.880bn investment, is 13.7km long with 13 elevated and underground stations.
President Ricardo Martinelli previously said he would launch a tender before his term is up in May to finance metro line 2. Line 2 involves the construction of a 22km elevated line and 15 stations.
Meanwhile, Japan restated its interest in financing line 3.
