Panama plans to start construction of a new cancer hospital in April with the first stage set to demand a US$72mn investment.

The entire project will cost an estimated US$482mn, according to the infrastructure department at the health ministry

The new hospital will replace a facility that is congested and the tender to award the first stage will be held in April, broadcaster TVN-2 reported department director Carlos Candanedo as saying.

The first stage will include construction of a radiotherapy unit, six units for administrative work, labs, pharmacies, and an industrial building.
