Panama's IDAAN, Conagua sign cooperation agreement

Panama's water and sewerage utility IDAAN and national water council Conagua have signed a technical cooperation agreement as part of efforts to implement a national system of water information (SNIH).

Officials from Conagua, as well as representatives from other support entities, will form part of an institutional coordinating commission which members will be tasked with obtaining, processing, updating and unveiling water information, which can later be used to create a database, IDAAN said in a release.

The members will also be involved in the design, implementation, and operation of the SNIH.

The commission will be comprised of a political body tasked with leading the effort and inking the necessary agreements, and a technical team that will be in charge of managing activities and formulate recommendations.

Created in 2016, Conagua is the entity responsible for promoting, directing, coordinating, and ensuring the development and implementation of the national water security plan for 2015-2050, which is also known as "water for all".
