Within the framework of the conversation between presidents Santiago Peña of Paraguay and Gabriel Boric of Chile, a meeting was held between businessmen and public sector authorities from both countries. The Vice Minister of Transportation, Emiliano R. Fernández, coordinated the logistics technical table, focused on the Bioceanic Corridor project that will connect four countries, transiting from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic.

During the meeting, the head of the MOPC Strategic Projects Directorate , Amilcar Guillén, presented the Bioceanic Corridor, which extends over 3,400 kilometers and includes a 600-kilometer stretch through the Paraguayan Chaco. This project promises to transform the region's logistics infrastructure and establish itself as a crucial link for commercial activity between Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Chile.

“The Bioceanic Corridor has been a dream for years and today it is becoming a reality thanks to an investment of 1.3 billion dollars from the Paraguayan government. Paraguay is demonstrating significant progress in the construction of this corridor, which will facilitate international trade,” said Deputy Minister Fernández.

Business opportunity

For his part, Amilcar Guillen, head of the MOPC Project Management, highlighted that the goal is to consolidate Paraguay as a multimodal logistics center, covering not only the development of roads, but also the improvement of urban and transportation infrastructure. “We want public works to have a citizen focus, directly impacting the lives of citizens,” he stated.

The Bioceanic Corridor is presented as a vital artery for commercial integration in the region. It is estimated that the improvement in infrastructure will reduce transportation times, allowing Paraguayan products to reach strategic markets, including Asian ones, more quickly. “The possibility of shortening travel times by up to 20 days will change the commercial landscape for Paraguay and its partners,” he emphasized.

The meeting concluded with a call to action, highlighting the need to continue working together to make this dream of integration a reality that promises to change the economic future of Paraguay and its neighbors. With solid investments and a shared vision, Paraguay is moving towards a future where logistics and trade are pillars of sustainable development.
