Paraguay extends datacenter tender deadline

Paraguay's information and communications technology ministry (Mitic) has moved the tender opening date for a US$19 million government datacenter from September 13 to September 25.

Offers must be submitted in writing to the procurement coordination office of digital project unit UEP-PAAD. 

Paraguay plans to hire a company to design, build, equip and operate a tier III certified datacenter to support existing and future technological implementations, such as the Paraguayan cloud (PY Cloud), e-government, education technologies and information exchange systems.

The project is part of a US$130mn financing from the Inter-American Development Bank.

The 5W datacenter will be located in Ruta Falcón, Clorinda, Villa Hayes, and will have a total area of 7,489m2, and initial design capacity of 110 racks for IT services and 58 for network and telecoms equipment.

The facility must also offer space for the installation of servers for large internet providers (OTT), optimizing international traffic.

Electric power will be supplied from the Ande substation in Villa Hayes.

Previously, Mitic planned the start of operations by 2028.
