Paraguay's Copaco expands fiber optics coverage by over 50%

Paraguayan telecoms operator Copaco increased its fiber optics deployment by 54% in 2021.

The state-owned firm expanded its fiber coverage to 3,698km last year from 1,119km in 2020, local news agency IP reported. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Copaco reached several localities in the department of Ñeembucú with fiber optics, including department capital Pilar, and the towns of Isla Pucú, General Díaz and Carmen del Paraná.

At the beginning of last year, the country’s fiber optics deployment totaled 18,000km.
