Paraguay's Essap to tender sewer works next month

Paraguay's state water utility Essap presented the US$30mn sewer system expansion for the city of Fernando de la Mora (Central department). Tenders are expected for March.

In a press release, Essap said it included in its presentation to the city government the financing model based on a loan from a local bank, which is repaid with sewer service tariffs.

Works will be divided into three lots that will be tendered separately. Essap plans to add over 161km of secondary collectors to the city's sewerage system. The first lot entails 66.8km, the second 34km and the third 60.5km.

The project is expected to benefit 85,885 residents instantly and over 131,000 by 2048.
