Buenos Aires, May 27, 2024. Movistar announces the progress of its agreement with Iplan for the expansion of connectivity deployment in the city of Buenos Aires. As part of this strategic partnership, work was done to adapt and integrate connectivity infrastructure that covers the northern part of the city, specifically the neighborhoods of Almagro, Balvanera, Belgrano, Caballito, Chacarita, Coghlan, Colegiales, Constitución, Monserrat, Nuñez, Palermo, Recoleta, Retiro, Saavedra, San Nicolás, Villa Crespo and Villa Urquiza.
This partnership, which is based on the concept of network sharing, is focused on Movistar residential clients and brings connectivity to buildings with FTTH/GPON technology. It includes the connection through the already installed Iplan network, as well as the maintenance of the network. The installation will be carried out by Movistar.
"The collaboration with Iplan marks a key milestone in the opening and sharing of networks. With this partnership we reaffirm our commitment to further expand high-quality connectivity in the city of Buenos Aires, where Movistar already has more than 400,000 real estate units passed. We are proud to continue reaching more homes, and we believe that this project demonstrates our firm commitment to the continuous improvement of services and total connectivity in the region,” explains Luis Delamer, HISPAM Wholesale Director of Movistar.
On the other hand, Franco Cecchini, Director of Iplan, added: “We are very excited about this strategic partnership with Movistar, which represents a significant step towards the expansion of connectivity in Buenos Aires. At Iplan, we foresee the possibility of making 1 million homes passed available in the future, which will allow more residents to access high-quality connectivity and advanced services. “This collaboration not only strengthens our infrastructure, but also underlines our commitment to the continuous improvement and digitalization of our society.”
The implementation of this project began at the end of last year and has a duration of seven years, with the possibility of extending it for three more years. This marks significant progress in the company's commitment to offering quality services and full connectivity in the region.
Thanks to this partnership, the community has services at its disposal, with a variety of proposals that enrich broadband connectivity and TV services, new products and services, as well as more competitive offers.
Due to the use of the latest technologies, offline life moved to the online universe, accelerating its migration speed fourfold, thus allowing the continuity of social, economic and educational activities.
It is essential to move towards the digitalization of society, as the basis to leverage the sustainability of the productive ecosystem, socioeconomic reactivation and as a mitigating factor of the pandemic and post-pandemic continuity.
Based on this partnership, Movistar and Iplan began to work together on a high-capacity network scheme under a sustainable and inclusive model, with the aim of expanding the digitalization of citizens and making a more humane world by connecting the lives of people.
