Permitting advances for 7th phase of Guyana’s Stabroek development

ExxonMobil Guyana submitted the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the seventh phase of the Stabroek offshore oil and gas block.

The filing of the EIA with the country's Environmental Protection Agency followed a public consultation process and meetings with stakeholders, including government and private entities.

According to the EIA, "the planned project activities are predicted to have negligible to minor residual impacts on physical resources (i.e., climate and climate change, air quality, marine geology and sediments, marine water quality)."

The seventh phase, known as Hammerhead, consists of 14-30 development wells, subsea equipment, an FPSO, and a 13km pipeline to connect to a gas-to-energy project.

Production is penciled in to start in 2029, with annual oil and gas output expected to average 150,000b/d and 90Mf3/d.

ExxonMobil recently revealed that a final investment decision for Hammerhead could be made this year.
