Permitting advances for build-out of Guyana’s Stabroek acreage

Guyana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the terms and scope to guide the preparation of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the seventh phase of the Stabroek offshore oil and gas block.

BNamericas previously reported that Esso Exploration and Production Guyana submitted a project summary for the phase, also known as Hammerhead, to the EPA.

The terms and scope, available in the Documents box in the top-right corner of the screen, were developed following a public comment period.

The guidelines require the filing of a detailed project description, potential impacts, project alternatives, stakeholder identification and consultation, and mitigation measures, among other information.

The phase envisions 14-30 production and injection wells, the installation of an FPSO to produce 120,000-180,000b/d and subsea equipment in water depths of 750-1,200m.

Production is penciled in to begin in 2029 and the FPSO would also produce 60-120Mf3/d of natural gas.

The Hammerhead discovery was announced in August 2018 and was the ninth oil discovery at Stabroek.
