Permitting begins for new Guyana FPSO

ExxonMobil Guyana submitted a project summary for the seventh phase, also known as the Hammerhead project, of the Stabroek offshore oil block.

The document was filed with the country’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The phase envisions 14-30 production and injection wells, the installation of an FPSO to produce 120,000-180,000b/d and subsea equipment in water depths of 750-1,200m.

Production is penciled in to begin in 2029 and the FPSO would also produce 60-120Mf3/d of natural gas.

The FPSO would be 15km southwest of the Liza Destiny FPSO, which is one of three Stabroek phases in production.

The EPA said the project will require an environmental impact assessment (EIA) and is accepting questions and observations from the public to be answered or considered in the EIA.
