Pernambuco launches hwy. doubling, improvement tender

Brazilian state Pernambuco's highway authority DER has published bidding rules for a contract to double and improve a stretch of federal highway BR-232, the state government reported. Works will be carried out on a 19.8km stretch between Caruaru and Sao Caetano, and are budgeted at 84.3mn reais (US$29.4mn). The federal government will provide 90% of required funds. Offers are due December 16, with works expected to begin in March and take two years. BR-232 is considered a vital link for the state, running 550km from state capital Recife to Parnamirim.
