Peru awards gas distribution infrastructure work
Peru’s push to expand natural gas use continues to advance with the awarding of work in the southern regions of Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna.
The energy and mines ministry selected construction firm Natural Gas Company (Nagasco) to carry out projects in the Suroeste distribution concession which national oil company Petroperú operates under a temporary contract.
Nagasco won with a bid of US$16mn for the infrastructure which includes 150km of polyethylene distribution network and 7,058 connecting pipes. Work is due to take 10 months.
Meanwhile, Consorcio PA-Farmin Quillabamba was the sole qualifier of three participants for a similar contract in Quillabamba in Cusco region.
The consortium may present its economic proposal on July 4.
The works fall under the Bonogas program which finances the installation of residential gas supply and is supported by social energy inclusion fund FISE.
