Peru awards power transmission infrastructure contracts
Peru’s energy and mines ministry has awarded power transmission projects as part of a reassignment process to fast-track the execution of dispatch infrastructure.
The winners were Alupar Perú and Consorcio Eléctrico de Villacurí which picked up work for US$39.3 million and US$8.93mn, respectively, ministry information shows.
The government established the mechanism in 2021 to reactivate complementary transmission system projects which are part of transmission investment plans previously approved by energy and mining investment regulator Osinergmin.
The latest call was issued in August with Alupar as the winner in the previous tender.
Meanwhile, grid coordinator COES updated its 2025-34 power transmission plan proposal following input from Osinergmin.
The watchdog’s comments and the latest proposal are available in the Documents box in the top right corner.
Following a final review by Osinergmin, the plan would require approval from the energy and mines ministry, expected by year-end.
