Peru grants Acciona definitive power generation concession
Acciona Energía Perú has secured a definitive generation concession for the 156MW San José solar project in Arequipa.
The company requested the concession in January and the next step is for the energy and mines ministry to sign the concession contract, according to a ministry resolution.
A definitive concession is granted for an indefinite period and allows the use of public property and the right to obtain easements. Requirements include a construction timetable, budget, environmental approval and a guarantee to execute works.
In recent days, the ministry granted Acciona the definitive concession for the 220kV América-San José transmission line which will dispatch production from the planned park.
The definitive generation concession takes the number of such concessions in the project phase in the country to 52, of which 22 are hydros (over 20MW) for a combined 4,773MW and the balance hydro (up to 20MW), solar, wind and biomass for a combined 3,128MW.
