Peru grants power dispatch concession for US$500mn hydro project
Peru’s energy and mines ministry granted Hydro Global Perú (HGP) the definitive concession for a transmission line in Puno region.
The dispatch infrastructure comprises the 178km, 220kV Paquillusi-Pumiri link across the provinces of Azángaro, Carabaya and Melgar, and the expansion of the Pumiri substation.
HGP is building the US$500mn, 206MW San Gabán III hydro project which is 90% complete and due online in July.
The ministry’s power director is now authorized to sign the concession contract with the company.
