Peru issues gas distribution infra call, awards work

Peru’s energy and mines ministry launched bidding to carry out projects in the Suroeste natural gas distribution concession area.
The planned infrastructure includes 150km of polyethylene distribution network (US$15mn) and 7,058 connecting pipes (US$1.35mn).
The works fall under the Bonogas program which finances the installation of residential gas and is supported by social energy inclusion fund FISE.
Registration runs through April 22 and offers for the 10-month contract are due in June, according to procurement information.
Meanwhile, the ministry awarded Consorcio PA-Farmin a US$5mn, 12-month contract to install a satellite regasification plant, 25km of distribution network and 1,000 connection pipes to supply gas in the city of Cusco.
The contract is part of a special infrastructure projects program to expand gas use in the interior financed by FISE.
Peru LNG’s Pampa Melchorita plant will dispatch LNG to Cusco in cistern trucks, which already supply the Suroeste concession. The latter spans the southwest regions of Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna and is temporarily administered by national oil company Petroperú.
