Peru power roundup: 400MW solar project, legislation, electromobility

EIS submitted for 400MW plant

Oryx Power Peru submitted the semi-detailed environmental impact study (EIS) for the 400MW Valladolid solar project to the energy and mines ministry (Minem).

The photovoltaic park is planned for the northern region of Piura and would cost 935mn soles (US$247mn), with construction estimated to take 1.3 years.

The EIS is available here.

Legislation on residential solar systems

A group of lawmakers introduced a bill to congress to declare the implementation of residential solar systems of public need and national interest.

Another legislative proposal was submitted to promote public and private investment to create and operate power company Electro Madre de Dios, after the Madre de Dios regional government declared its creation of public need and regional interest.

The bills are available in the Documents box in the top right corner.

Cooperation to promote electromobility

Minem signed a cooperation agreement with Toyota del Perú to promote electromobility and its associated charging infrastructure.

The ministry will collect information from a vehicle donated by Toyota to determine efficiency and performance.
