Peru relaunches upstream hydrocarbons roadmap tender

Peru’s hydrocarbons licensing authority Perupetro has issued a new call to draft a national exploration and production plan.

The original process was declared void because none of the offers were valid.

The 120-day consultancy contract entails preparing a roadmap for the medium and long term, modeling different scenarios to determine estimated investment.

Offers are due by November 10, according to procurement information available here, using number 956362 (place the number in the “Identificador Convocatoria” box after clicking on “Búsqueda Avanzada”).

Perupetro has said that upstream procurement has not had the expected results which puts reserve and production levels at risk.

Information from the government agency shows that exploration investment in the first eight months of 2023 totaled US$1.67mn with no gravimetry, magnetometry, 2D or 3D seismic activity in January-September nor exploration wells drilled.

Among the factors curbing exploration are continuing economic, political and social turmoil, regulatory and legislative uncertainty, and socio-environmental conflict, as well as wider industry challenges such as those related to the energy transition.
