Peru renewable energy developers secure land rights
Peru’s energy and mines ministry granted permanent occupancy easement for Ibereólica Caravelí’s 220MW Caravelí wind project in Arequipa region.
The authorization is for 1,572ha in Lomas district, Caravelí province, according to ministry information.
The developer is a subsidiary of Madrid-based Grupo Ibereólica Renovables and holds a definitive concession for the planned wind farm signed in 2022. Operations are penciled in to begin in 2026.
Caravelí will boast 36 turbines and connect to the national grid at the Poroma substation.
For its part, GR Chabarbamba, a special purpose company established by Grenergy, also from Spain, secured temporary easement for the 170MW Macarena solar project in Ica region.
The land rights will allow the company to conduct feasibility studies, which, under a temporary concession granted this year for Macarena, must be carried out within 24 months.
The easement covers 247ha in Marcona district, Nazca province.
