Peru reports mixed hydrocarbons production

Peru oil production in January averaged 46,804b/d compared with 43,023b/d a year earlier and 44,289b/d in December.

Information from hydrocarbons licensing authority Perupetro also reveals that January’s output was the highest for the month in recent years.

The country’s principal producer, PetroTal-operated Amazon block 95, has been a driver, with its contribution up 8.5% last month to 22,358b/d, accounting for 48% of production.

January’s other principal oil producers were blocks X (7,896b/d) and Z-69 (3,709b/d).

Natural gas output in January averaged 32.6Mm3/d, versus 42.4Mm3/d a year earlier and 37.8Mm3/d in December.

Along with the seasonal drop in gas use by power generation plants due to the rainy season and the subsequent increase in hydroelectric production, the government declared a supply contingency in January on account of heavy rains which damaged Camisea gas transport infrastructure.

The bulk of gas comes from blocks 88, 56 and 57, which saw year on year production in January dip 8.4%, 22%, and 22%, respectively, to 18.3Mf3/d, 7.05Mf3/d and 5.56Mf3/d.

Meanwhile, Perupetro declared void a call to implement, operate and maintain a remote data transmission system to support northwest upstream operations. The bidders did not fulfill bidding requirements.
