Peru roundup: Solar concessions, natural gas contingency
Peru’s northern region Loreto granted definitive concessions for two off-grid solar plants.
Amazonas Energía Solar is the developer of the 7.5MW Requena and 2.1MW Tamshiyacu plants.
Loreto’s energy and mines director is now authorized to sign the concession contracts, according to resolutions from the regional government.
EDF Perú and Novum Solar are partners in Amazonas Energía Solar, which was established to supply isolated jungle communities and reduce diesel-fired generation.

Natural gas contingency
The energy and mines ministry declared an emergency in the supply of natural gas transported through pipelines until August 14.
The decision was taken after Pluspetrol Perú and Transportadora de Gas del Perú reported that maintenance will be carried out at the Malvinas and Chiquintirca plants.
Supply during the contingency will be 920M-1.25Bf3/d, with the possibility of an additional 130Mf3/d from a bypass, compared with demand of 1.54Bf3/d, according to ministry information.
During the emergency, dispatch to the domestic market must be prioritized.
