Peru suspends power transmission concession process
Peru investment promotion agency ProInversión suspended the procurement process for a 30-year power transmission concession.
The contract is for the 220kV Palca substation and Palca-La Pascana line, the 220kV Planicie-Industriales link, and 138kV links Abancay Nueva-Andahuaylas and San Rafael-Ananea.
ProInversión cited a provision in the bidding rules that allows the suspension or cancellation “for reasons of public interest.”
The agency did not immediately respond to a request for additional information. Under the original timeline, offers were due in October.
BNamericas previously reported that five companies qualified to submit offers for the concession which benefits the regions of Apurimac, Arequipa, Puno and Lima. Estimated investment reaches US$137mn.
ProInversión’s other transmission call underway is for the 220kV Aguaytía-Pucallpa line and the Tarma-Chanchamayo and Huaraz systems, and a yet to be launched process is for the 138kV Nueva Virú-Trujillo Sur, Yaros-Amarilis and San Román-Yocara-Maravilla links, and associated substations.
