Peru to build US$165mn bridge in Junín region

Peru is planning to build a 619 million-sol (US$165mn) bridge in a jungle area in Junín region.

The detailed environmental impact study (EIS-d) for the Asháninca Nation Bridge and Accesses project was submitted by Provías Nacional, which executes works of the transport and communications ministry, and is under evaluation by the environmental certification service for sustainable investments (Senace).

According to the study, which was prepared by consulting firm Azize Ingenieros, the bridge will cross the Ene river and works include over 4km of new paving.

The main works involve over 1,300m of new paving, a 1,000m cable-stayed section of the bridge and a 394m viaduct.

Due to the bridge works, sections of route PE-28C will be abandoned, while two connecting roads will have to be built on both sides of the river.

Useful life of the bridge will be 50 years, construction require 300 workers and operation and maintenance 153.
