Peru to enhance reporting requirements for gas distribution operations

Peru’s energy and mining investment regulator Osinergmin approved modifications to guidelines for the delivery of information by natural gas companies.

The changes call for the real-time delivery of information by operators which distribute gas through pipelines to optimize supervision.

The watchdog highlights that current information is a “photograph” and sent ex post which limits the detection of abnormal conditions and hinders efficient and effective supervision.

Osinergmin adds that the lack of real-time reporting may impact the power sector due to the shutdown of thermal power plants that source natural gas from distribution systems. 

Companies that distribute gas through pipelines now have 180 days to comply with the new guidelines.

Petroperú reactivating industrial gas supply

In a related development, national oil company Petroperú announced the reactivation of industrial gas connections in the south of the country.

The NOC, which temporarily operates the Sur Oeste concession, said it started gas supply to a company that manufactures agricultural plastics at the Tacna free trade zone.
