Peru to launch upstream hydrocarbons acreage process
Peru’s hydrocarbons licensing authority Perupetro will issue a call on August 14 for northwest upstream acreage.
The areas are onshore blocks I and VI, which national oil company Petroperú operates under temporary contracts that expire in October 2025 or until a new operator takes over.
GMP and Sapet operated blocks I (6,915ha) and VI (13,772ha), respectively, until the contracts expired.
In the first half of 2024, block I produced 83,225b of crude and 469Mf3 of natural gas, and block VI 327,175b and 570Mf3. Total Peru output was 7.44Mb and 9.15Bf3.
Maps of the blocks are available in the Documents box in the top-right corner of the screen.
Petroperú also holds a temporary contract for offshore block Z-69 which the authorities plan to offer to a new operator.
Perupetro held citizen participation meetings in June and July for the three blocks.
