Peru upstream operator budgets US$34mn for drill program
Permitting is advancing for Peruvian upstream company Unienergía ABC’s project at onshore block IX in the northern region of Piura.
The work entails drilling nine exploration and 27 development wells, and installing associated production facilities, according to information filed by the operator with the environmental certification service for sustainable investments (Senace).
The project’s cost is estimated at nearly US$34mn, with drilling to be carried out over 15 years and the facilities in 2025-33.
Coastal block IX is a marginal oil and natural gas producer and covers 2,754ha near the Talara refinery and block X, one of Peru’s top crude producers.

In another sector development, Australia's Condor Energy reported “significant” new oil targets identified from interpretation of legacy 3D seismic data for its LXXXVI technical evaluation agreement (TEA) which covers part of the offshore Tumbes basin.
Condor and Jaguar Exploration entered into the TEA with hydrocarbons licensing authority Perupetro in August 2023 for the 4,858km2 area.
